Mick Quinn, bassist for British rock group Supergrass, has broken his back by sleepwalking out a window. The incident reminds me a little of Robert Wyatt, singer and drummer for Soft Machine, who was paralyzed from the waist down after falling out a third-story window back in 1973. Prospects are better for Quinn, but it’s still a shocking story. How terrifying it must be to wonder what will happen after you go to bed. If you’re using Ambien you might even drive to the store, buy a gallon of ice cream, eat the whole thing and go back to bed without remembering any of it.
