Using a steel pry bar I am scraping grass and bumps from an unused bike trail that will shave miles off the distance from the falls. I realize as I am doing this that even with my efforts it will still be a very long bike ride home. I ride down a steep hill, over a pile of magazines, with my brakes full on. At the bottom of the hill an adjacent bike path crosses mine. I watch a family ride by on their bikes. One of them tows a huge white sofa labeled "Delivery Y" in large black letters on the side. I ride back up the hill and chop some more grass, leaving some large blue irises that are about to bloom.
