Albuquerque is a picturesque little piece of high desert, but the excessive amounts of trash and debris can become rather unsightly. Lend a helping hand to Albuquerque’s Open Space Division today as the cleanup crew meets at the Sandia Foothills near the end of Indian School, east of Tramway. Pack a lunch, take plenty of water, wear comfortable clothing and get there early to register. This year, a prize will be awarded for the most interesting item of trash discovered each Saturday. They will be on display at the Open Space Visitor Center’s Recycled Art Fair exhibit. The spring cleanup runs each Saturday in April thru 4/23 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at several locations around the Sandia Foothills. Parking is limited, so carpooling is strongly encouraged. For more information, call 452-5200 or visit cabq.gov/openspace.
