Cameryn Moore is a phone sex operator, playwright and performer. Tonight she’ll be staging a story slam at Evolution Night Club (6132 Fourth Street NW). The Alibi talked with Moore about the idea behind her Smut Slam, which has taken off since it began in her hometown of Boston in February. Entrance is $5 and eight to 10 entrants will be given the opportunity to compete for prizes. But you don’t have to be willing to perform to attend.

EDITOR’S NOTE: I misspoke in this week’s issue when I referred to the event in a poetry slam context (those corrections have been made online). Moore insists Smut Slam is more about just telling stories. “This really is a story-telling slam,” she writes, “open to tellers of all backgrounds and levels. If you have a sex life, then you probably have a story to tell.” Slam poets won’t be turned away, but the event isn’t structured in that direction.

Moore will also be putting on her plays “slut (r)evolution” and “Phone Whore” at the
Orpheum Arts Space Oct. 20 through Oct. 22.
