First, let me admit that I had a brief, brief Ayn Rand phase at 19. It was primarily about me trying to be a cold cypher like Dominique Francon in The Fountainhead . Which was exhausting. Soon after, it became clear that anyone over the age of 23 who listed Ayn Rand as their favorite author is, if not full-on bat shit, then dangerously close to toppling over the edge. Like the people who run this website. So, besides the work of Ayn Rand, what author and/or their work has unintentionally served as veritable manure for legions of douchery to spring from? ( On the Road , anyone?)
