I’m amazed. The former home of the Apartheid , the place that didn’t have a multi-racial election until 1994, gets something about human rights that the Land of the Free doesn’t quite grasp. Yes, the South African parliament has approved gay marriages . Many African nations still regard homosexuality as a crime with harsher penalties than those assigned to rapists and murderers, the New York Times article points out. The only other countries that allow gay marriage nationwide are the Netherlands, Spain, Canada and Belgium.
