OK, so of course no one could have expected that, but you can expect to learn what life was like for our fair state’s early Spanish settlers when El Rancho de las Golondrinas (334 Los Pinos, Santa Fe) holds its annual Spring Festival and Children’s Fair. Throughout the weekend, talk with authentically costumed villagers and watch daily colonial activities like sheep-shearing, blacksmithing and bread-baking. Artisans will be on hand selling handmade crafts, while the little ones can catch a magic show, eat bizcochitos and make their own tortillas. The festival takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 5 and 6. For more information, call the museum at (505) 471-2261 or visit golondrinas.org.
