Confusion tends to surround New Mexico’s annual rainy season. To straighten things out, here’s another weather what’s what from my favorite local TV weatherman:“Most of us in the USA tend to think of torrential rains in India when the term ‘monsoon’ is used. However, in the world of weather, monsoon means seasonal winds. Typically in the summer, placement of large, powerful high pressure systems that set up over the continental U.S. tend to "draw up" moisture from Old Mexico into our area. The rains and storms that result usually drop about 40% of our annual rainfall in NM.
