The awful rumors have proven true. KRQE reported last night that Intel is closing down one entire section of its manufacturing operations in Rio Rancho, which will lead to the lay-off of 1,000 workers by the end of the year. With a workforce of 5,200 employees, Intel is the largest private sector employer in the Albuquerque metro area.
