For more than a week, I’ve heard people talking about about how dark it is on Central and how that seems to be a safety hazard. The streetlights have been off between First and Eighth Streets. I called around today to find out why. The 311 operator sent me to PNM, who sent me back to the city. No one quite knows what’s going on. Traffic Engineer Martin Carrasco said PNM is responsible for some of the lights and the city is responsible for others, so people reporting the problem may have been bounced between the agencies. He called back to add that the Traffic Engineering Department had someone troubleshooting the problem about an hour ago.
