When he was young, T-Model Ford wasn’t exposed too much blues because his daddy considered it devil music, and his family was to poor to have a radio. The quintessential story of the Delta blues man, Ford grew up plowing by mule, was once put on a chain gang for killing a man and never learned to read. He did teach himself to play guitar in his late fifties, basing his style on that of Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf. Now in his late eighties (his exact birthdate is uncertain), T-Model Ford continues to tour, and will appear at The Cooperage Sunday night supporting his new album The Ladies Man .
