Hat tip for this one goes to Devin D. O'Leary who I presume found this news morsel when he was compiling Odds and Ends. The U.S. military, it seems, has been caught fabricating testimony by Iraqis and serving the bogus quotes to the media via press releases. The honorable Lt. Col. Clifford “Winston Smith” Kent attributed this embarrassing exercise in propoganda to “an administrative error.” After more than two years of the Iraq occupation, you have to wonder how long the spin doctors at military headquarters have been putting words in the liberated people's mouths and getting away with it. http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/meast/07/24/military.release/
