Making Grown Men Cry Since 1992
With all the pissing back and forth over whether New Mexico officials did or did not turn on the lights in time for the PBR competition this weekend at Tingley, one freakin’ big thing is being overlooked. L.J. Jenkins, 19-year old from the tiny village of Texico, N.M., beat out Guilherme Marchi from Brazil, the No. 1 bull rider in the world. Earlier this year, Travis Briscoe (age 20) from Edgewood scored the highest ride in years on a massive bull named Copperhead Slinger. These two kids have put New Mexico on top of the pile the in fastest-growing sport in the world. The Unsers, Johnny Tapia, Holly Holm … and now two guys in chaps and cowboy hats. It’s amazing our small state has produced so many champions. You can catch clips of this weekend’s Ty Murray Invitational competition, and The Texico Kid’s winning ride, here.
