I Was Wrong Before the NFL season started, I mentioned that I felt the NFC East was a pretty weak division. I caught a lot of flack for that characterization, and it appears, rightfully so. Monday night’s game between two NFC East rivals, the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles, was a barn burner between two NFC heavyweights. By the time the Cowboys pulled it out 41-38, the game had seen fumbles, interceptions, seven lead changes and two dominant offenses going head-to-head.The teams’ defensive squads deserve credit as well for being hyper-opportunistic, forcing and taking advantage of turnovers whenever possible. The season just started, but it’s clear the Cowboys and Eagles will be in the thick of the play-off hunt this year. Meanwhile, another NFC East team, the New York Giants, are 2-0 and looking a lot like the Super Bowl Championship team that stunned the country in January. The division is strong, and I offer my apologies for thinking otherwise.
