It will probably take you all of two minutes to play all the way through the drippingly ironic RPG Hero’s Adventure. But don’t let the 8-bit art style and antiquated, text-heavy play mechanics fool you. Or rather, go ahead and let it fool you. This microscopic experiment is much darker and more screwed up than you can possibly imagine. If you grew up killing rats with magic spells for meager experience points, Hero’s Quest will mess with your brain. It’s short, but definitely not sweet.
