AAN, the Association for Alternative Newsweeklies, handed the Alibi two wins in its 2008 AltWeekly Awards. Both were in the "circulation under 55,000" division. AAN awards are a big deal in the altweekly world, and we feel tee-riffic to have been singled out by it.Out of all the blogs in all the land (see the circulation caveat above), ours (the one you’re reading—right now!) was handed Second Place. The Alibi also secured the Honorable Mention (there’s First, Second, Third, and one Honorable Mention) in AAN’s new Public Service category for the Alibi ‘s advocacy and coverage of the LGBT community.In another awards contest altogether, the Alibi walked away with a big, red brick (that’s the trophy) for Best Place to Work at this Saturday’s Downtown Action Team LOOK Awards. The whole office celebrated on Monday morning with a round of Patron shots, which was followed by rival window-smashing with our new brick. Sorry about that, rivals. And also, in your face!
