I wish I’d arrived early enough to take full advantage of the snacks. I made a small plate of fancy mini puff pastry and wrapped thingees provided by Ambrozia. After wolfing ’em down quick, I headed upstairs to the theater. The Fusion Theatre Company’s staging of Tennessee Williams’ Suddenly Last Summer , directed by Fred Franklin, is a dirty play–erotic in an uncomfortable sense. I’ve never read or seen either the play or the movie version with Katherine Hepburn, so I didn’t have a clear idea what I was in for. This is definitely the fine state of Tennessee, though–sweaty, perverted, alcoholic, doomed.Anyway, this really has me looking forward to the rest of Fusion’s Tennessee Williams Festival. Get liquored and head for the theater!
