Maynard James Keenan, TOOL frontman, is perhaps the most youth-oriented thing to ever happen to wine. He’ll be at Whole Foods (2103 Carlisle) tomorrow from 2 to 5 p.m. hustling his vino.

Keenan has a
6,000-bottle collection of various wines. He makes his own Jesus juice at Caduceus Cellars in Cornville, Ariz.

And he writes awesome wine text. Follow along as Simon performs the back of a bottle of Anubis:

“2006 marks the transitional year. The year we move from mostly California fruit to predominantly Arizona fruit. A year of uncertainty. A year of transformation, initiation, commencement, and finally … resolution. With Anubis as our guide, we the candidates leave behind the solid certainty of what we know about California fruit and move into the unknown realms of Arizona terroir.”

You’ve got to buy a bottle for Maynard to sign it and he won’t be signing anything else. Whole Foods will offer his wines for between $23 and $110. The store will begin handing out numbers at 7 a.m. and is expecting to sell out.
