CELEBRATED ROCK MUSICIAN TO OPEN PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBIT IN NEW MEXICO
New York City’s Anne Husick will attend T or C gallery opening of her original works
Career rock ’n’ roll musician Anne Husick is no stranger to traveling. As a long-time member of the influential group Band of Susans, and essential female rocker Ronnie Spector’s touring band, Husick has performed across the United States and Europe. She has also worked with Wilson Pickett, Dead Can Dance’s Peter Ulrich, appeared on “Late Night with David Letterman,” “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” and shared the stage with Bruce Springsteen, Joey Ramone, and many others.
Husick’s career was heavily impacted by the COVID pandemic. Temporarily relocating to a family friend’s cabin in Upstate New York, Husick spent the pandemic documenting the colorful, fascinating (and considerably quieter) lives of bees, wasps, wide-eyed spiders, inquisitive snails, and other residents of the nearby woods and lakes. The result is “From the Green Room to the Green World,” a collection of striking and highly detailed original photographs of the hidden microcosm of rural New York.
The opening reception takes place during Truth or Consequences’ popular Art Hop on Saturday, March 9, from 5 pm to 9 pm. Husick is traveling from New York for the event and isn’t going to miss the chance to mix in some live music with her fine art. She’ll be performing three short sets with local musicians at the gallery that night.
“It’s not just these tiny creatures that enthrall,” says Lunáticus Gálerie director Constantin Pârvulescu, “but how they are seen in their environments, and how their lives continued unaware of the pandemic raging around them in the world of humans. We’re thrilled to have a musician and artist of Anne’s stature exhibiting here in T or C. Her work is a refreshing addition to southern New Mexico’s flourishing contemporary arts scene.”
As a teenager, Husick attended New York’s distinguished High School of Music and Art. She still makes her home in New York City and writes, records, and performs regularly with her own band, Exit 99, and other noted New York acts.
Artist’s reception: March 9, 2024, from 5 to 9 pm at Lunáticus Galerie, 424 North Broadway, Truth or Consequences, NM 87901.
Admission is free.
