PIANO ILLUSIONS

Polish-born pianist and magician Igor Lipinski reimagines the piano recital in a mystifying and hilarious evening of music and magic, Piano Illusions.
Dr. Lipinski, now on the piano faculty of the University of Oklahoma, and a performer of magic Illusions since his youth, created the show as an undergraduate at Eastman School of Music. Piano Illusions later won the WQXR Classical Comedy Contest at Caroline’s on Broadway and has been performed throughout the U.S. and abroad. Fascinated by the prospect of reinventing the recital for today’s audience, Lipinski explored unusual recitals from Liszt to Victor Borge as his doctoral dissertation research at Northwestern. His appearance in Albuquerque is made possible by Professional Music Teachers of New Mexico as part of their annual conference and is open to the public.
