Albuquerque Little Theatre (ALT) is celebrating its 80 th season this year. As a fundraiser for the historic theater—located just off Central between Downtown and Old Town—ALT is opening up its facilities and hosting an Oscar night party. So why not get out, get dressed up and share the glamour of the Academy Awards with members of Albuquerque’s arts community?

There will be snacks, a cash bar, a prize raffle, Oscar games and, of course, a larger-than-life glimpse of the Academy Awards telecast on the theater’s big screen. Attendees are invited to “dress to the nines” in formal attire, or dress down for casual fun.

Albuquerque’s premiere drag performance troupe, The Dolls, will be there in full regalia as some of Hollywood’s biggest big-screen legends. ALT members will also perform a special song-and-dance number from the Academy Award-nominated musical
Nine. In addition, ALT will hand out the first annual Luminaria Awards, honoring six individuals who helped build New Mexico’s film industry—from former Governor David Cargo to film producer Alton Walpole ( Koyaanisqatsi, The Tao of Steve, Crazy Heart ).

Doors open at 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 7. Tickets are a mere $6 and net proceeds will go to support ALT’s fund to repair and upgrade the facility. To purchase tickets in person, visit the ALT box office (224 San Pasquale SW) now through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., or call 242-4750 to order tickets by phone. To order online, log on to
