The ABQ BioPark comprises four major attractions in the city: the zoo, aquarium, botanic gardens and Tingley Beach. Take the kiddos to see the giraffes and polar bears at the zoo. Perhaps they’d like to see the sharks and jellyfish at the aquarium. Maybe you want to take them to explore over 1.5 miles of different gardens including the children’s fantasy garden. The colored dome in Old Town is a landmark with a tender place in anyone’s heart who grew up here, having surely spent countless hours wandering the halls of Explora, the museum that encourages exploration and challenges thinking for all of us, but especially for children. Since the ’80s the innovative enclave on Mountain has championed science, creativity and the magic of discovery. That is well worth celebrating and makes Explora more than deserving of a spot at number one in this category. In the wake of Toys “R” Us’ Bankruptcy and liquidation of nearly 200 locations, toy stores are something of a vanishing industry. At least the corporate ones.
