Best Community Action Group

NMPIRG. They’ve done a great job canvassing neighborhoods across the city and making people aware of the most important citywide issues, environmentally and politically.

Best Local Crackpot

Don Schrader. He has a show on Channel 27. I have seen him in regular clothes, and he’s not such a crackpot. He spices up public awareness and the media.

Best Bowling Alley

Leisure Bowl. Just because you always see a wide variety of folks up there. It caters to all segments of the social and economic ladder.

Best Radio Station

KUNM. They have a consistency of programming with shows like “The Home of Happy Feet” that have been on for a couple of decades that those of us in a certain age bracket continue to listen to.

Best Radio Personality

Steve Suttle on 98.5 FM, Big Oldies. Always something interesting, something novel to say.

Best Wine Shop

Jubilation. It always has deals on wine and a very friendly staff.

Best Venue in Which to Hear Live Music

Kiva Auditorium. Good sound system, and good line of sight on the artists.

Best Local Band Overall

The band I’m in, The Curio Cowboys. Keeping Western swing music alive on Route 66.
