Worst City Council DecisionRedistricting was the worst decision—reducing our Downtown and University-area representation and voice in order to consolidate and increase the voice of the Anglo Northeast Heights.Best BuildingFirst Plaza Galeria. I like the way each facade responds differently to the sun, and that it creates an east-facing public area that’s well used. It has a fairly successful underground retail area, which is really unusual. It also has arcades at the street-level all the way around—protected walkways for pedestrians.Best Way to Conserve WaterLandscaping irrigation—to really be careful about applying no more water than plants need, and then using the appropriate plants in the first place, whether they’re vegetables or ornamental.Best Thing That Doesn’t Exist AnymoreThe Dingo Bar. It provided affordable, top-rate, national-quality entertainment on a weekly basis in a fun and funky atmosphere.Best BrewpubI love Marble, but I’m going to give the nod to the [Chama River] microbar in the Sunshine building. It’s the closest thing to a tiny, English urban pub that we have here in Albuquerque. And it’s a great place to watch the city go by.
