How did you come by your love of music? I grew up listening to music through the influence of my older cousins, parents and grandparents. There was always music playing. Many of my early memories include the music of the time. What qualities are embodied in your favorite kind of live show? I like energetic shows. When musicians have a reasonable level of craft and a great sense of humor it is infectious and very entertaining. Do you have any guilty pleasures? I try not to feel guilty about anything that brings me pleasure! I love to dance, but I don’t feel guilty about it. … OK, my guilty pleasure is raw garage band music. What’s the rarest record you own? I have lots of vinyl, but not because it’s rare. One of my more unusual records is a Marilyn Monroe picture disc with her famous nude on one side. What are the pros of the New Mexico music? There are lots of talented local musicians, and we are at a geographic crossroads for touring bands. And the cons … ? It sometimes seems like there is not enough support for live events that are not of "arena scale." Predictions for the future? I would like to think that there will be a stronger network and more options for both local and touring bands. What do you wish more people knew/understood about music? It adds so much to life. Music and arts in the schools should be better supported!
