Its singular room is filled to the ceiling with Victorian trunks, vintage bicycles, odd lighting fixtures, and flawless heirloom clothing and jewelry—to find the truly great pieces, you have to hunt for them. But the search is worth it.

If you want to support the local economy this holiday season, it’s hard to do better than Pearls of the Antilles. Nearly 70 percent of its merchandise is created in Albuquerque, from the large variety of candles and incense made by co-owner Ken Smith to original artwork, beauty creams and silver figurines. This artist collective is involved in a number of good causes, so when you support it, your dollars go a lot farther than the register.

We can’t say enough about Celebro. All its goods are fairly traded. It’s one of the only places in town to find organic, natural-fiber clothes for men, women and babies, and the clothes are as cute as they are comfortable and ecological. It offers larger sizes. It carries lead-free, handmade toys. Like we said, we can’t say enough, so you’ll just have to investigate it for yourselves.
