Featured in magazines like Elle Decor and In Style Home , this furniture, décor and fashion store runs most of its business online. But passing up the exquisite showroom with custom design leather trunks, woven blankets from New Zealand (made by the same weavers who created the magic cloaks in Lord of the Rings ), hand-felted wraps and camel bone necklaces would be a crime. Plus, it’s remarkably affordable.

It’s hard to notice Barrymore’s if you’re not looking for it—despite the shop’s bright pink exterior. A mere block off Central, this extraordinary antiques store remains one of Albuquerque’s great secrets. In fact, everything about Barrymore’s seems somewhat mysterious. Its singular room is filled to the ceiling with Victorian trunks, vintage bicycles, odd lighting fixtures, and flawless heirloom clothing and jewelry—to find the truly great pieces, you have to hunt for them. But the search is worth it.

Pearls Of The Antilles

If you want to support the local economy this holiday season, it’s hard to do better than Pearls of the Antilles. Nearly 70 percent of its merchandise is created in Albuquerque, from the large variety of candles and incense made by co-owner Ken Smith to original artwork, beauty creams and silver figurines. This artist collective is involved in a number of good causes, so when you support it, your dollars go a lot farther than the register.

Bright Future Futon Company

Where else can you buy an organic cotton futon? If you’re looking for something big to tie a bow around this holiday, you can’t do much better than that. If your budget calls for less extravagance, this ecologically minded store offers smaller items as well—a large selection of yoga pillows and props, organic cotton bedding and bassinets, futon covers, and side furniture—all impeccably crafted.

Celebro Natural Living

We can’t say enough about Celebro. All its goods are fairly traded. It’s one of the only places in town to find organic, natural-fiber clothes for men, women and babies, and the clothes are as cute as they are comfortable and ecological. It offers larger sizes. It carries lead-free, handmade toys. Like we said, we can’t say enough, so you’ll just have to investigate it for yourselves.
