I can't tell you how glad I am that we dispensed with categories this year. Who needs 'em, really? I enjoyed the free-for-all, mainly because contestants reveled in it, sending us an astonishing range of images of everything from Mama Nature to graffiti to eggs to smashed cars to drag queens to naked bodies (please send more of the latter next year).

The contest, of course, wouldn't be the same without the generosity of our sponsors. Get all your photographic gear and expert advice at Nob Hill's Camera & Darkroom (3225 Central NE, 255-1133), which also has two locations in Santa Fe. Get yummy Downtown eats and drinks at Ralli's (243-1093) and The District (243-0003), both located just north of Central on the Fourth Street Mall. And get your fix of the best and smartest films showing in the city at the Guild Cinema (3405 Central NE, 255-1848).

I'd also like to thank the judges. This year's panel included Christie Chisholm, Laura Marrich, Devin O'Leary, Marisa Demarco, Tom Nayder and myself. It was one big ol' hunk o' fun from start to finish. (If only our jobs were always so enjoyable.)

Last but not least, congratulations to all the winners and to everyone who participated. Winners can call me at 346-0660 ext. 251 to arrange to pick up their prizes.
