New Mexico Department of Veterans’ Services Secretary John Garcia will give the welcoming address. 10 a.m. parade, 11 a.m. ceremony. • Veterans Day Ceremony Held at Rio Rancho Veterans Monument Park (off of Southern on Pinetree, between the Esther Bone Memorial Library and a post office). Speakers include Mayor Tom Swisstack of Rio Rancho. 11 a.m. • Free Veterans Day Entrée at Applebee’s Veterans and active duty military personnel (with proof of service) can choose from a selection of entrée items at participating Applebee’s restaurants. (The DynaTheater and planetarium admission charges remain.) • Free Admission to the National Museum of Nuclear Science and History The National Museum of Nuclear Science and History recognizes veterans and military members with free admission. Visitors can experience tours led by museum docents who are also veterans. There will be a patriotic performance by the men’s a capella group 505 Chorus at 4 p.m. Friday, November 12 • New Mexico Veterans Art Exhibit Support local artists who are veterans at the Expo New Mexico (300 San Pedro NE) Fine Arts Building. The show opens at 6 p.m. Friday, then runs Saturdays and Sundays through Nov. 27, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. • Wounded Warrior Benefit Dinner Dance Gary Sinise, the actor known as Lt. Dan in the movie Forrest Gump , plays with the Lt. Dan Band at this fundraiser held at Atlantic Aviation. Individual tickets start at $150.
