Former Monty Python member Terry Gilliam ( Brazil, 12 Monkeys ) contributes his most imaginative fantasy to date. The trippy morality play concerns the immortal operator (Christopher Plummer) of a magical traveling circus who engages in a contest of wills against the Devil himself (Tom Waits) in order to save his young daughter (Lily Cole) from damnation. The film is most famous, of course, as the final on-screen effort of Heath Ledger, whose role is completed with the help of several other high-profile stars (Johnny Depp, Jude Law, Colin Farrell).

This alternately hilarious and heart-breaking documentary chronicles the pre-production of director Terry Gilliam’s long-awaited adaptation of Don Quixote. What the documentary filmmakers were lucky enough to catch was a series of near-Biblical disasters that virtually destroyed any chance of the production being completed. Both comic and tragic, this film just goes to show that even with $40 million, Johnny Depp and a dozen films under your belt, you’re always one step away from disaster in Hollywood. Fans of Gilliam won’t want to miss this chance to see their idol’s artistic mind in overdrive. A must for film lovers.
