Are you dying to get out for a long ride before winter sets in? Get out your marigolds and your fancy dress; it’s time to put rubber to the road at the Day of the Tread cycling event. Wear your cadaverous best and decorate your bike too. Come out and show your support.

This Sunday morning, Oct. 28, join the dead on a ride of your choosing. From the Kids K to the Century, there is a ride for every skill level. Make sure to get your registration in now or miss the last minute deals. These haunting rides are sure to be enjoyed by all.

Late registration is happening right now. You can choose to register online at anytime or in-person at the Day of the Tread Expo on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 9am to 3pm. You can also register the day of the ride, but this is discouraged. The lines may be very long and you know you’re dying to wait in line.

Don’t kill yourself if you haven’t saved up for the ride, prices vary by distance. If you consider yourself one of the fittest of our recently deceased you can opt for the 100-mile ride and if you and your partner are in it together sign up for the tandem ride.

Of course if you are more in the moderate range of fitness finesse you can choose to ride either the 26 or 50-mile ride. Each ride is up and then down the bosque. This portion is filled with beautiful sites and energetic music to help you keep your pace.

But wait, don’t leave the children at home! The whole family can join in for this adventure with an amazing 12-mile ride up the bosque followed by a ride on the Railrunner back to the start. The train leaves at 11:41am, which leaves room for a leisurely two-hour cruise.

As you make your way with the other ghouls make sure to stop and say hello to all the dead-icated cycling volunteers at themed recharge celebration zones set up along the routes every 7 to 12 miles. Grab a drink and a snack and then get back on the saddle and finish the race.

End your ride with the post event party at Civic Plaza starting at 11am, complete with a costume contest, food, drinks and entertainment. Come on out and play. It is for a great cause where every dollar donated is used to help
Pegasus Legal Services for Children.
