ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Albuquerque Mayor Martin Chavez on Tuesday called on state officials to ban liquor at events open to all ages.Chavez made the announcement on Tuesday, days after city and county teams shut down Club 7, saying the downtown nightclub was a "safe haven to buy and use" the drug Ecstasy.Club 7 often held all-ages raves on Fridays, and during Friday’s raid on the club, officials said they found children as young as 13 inside.Chavez said that many all-ages venues run good operations, but called Club 7 irresponsible."If they reopen, it will be by order of the court over the objection of the City of Albuquerque," Chavez said. "They’re not going to open with permission of the City of Albuquerque."He said he’ll ask the state Legislature to put the ban in place unless the state liquor director does so.
