Mid-’70s-formed British punk band The Damned released “Smash it Up” in 1979. This track can be found on Machine Gun Etiquette , the subject matter on which has been interpreted at anarchic and satanic. In the ’80s, The Damned went goth, and in this video, shot overexposed on a soundstage, you can see inklings of that eventuality.
