Thursday 16

“My Name is Earl” (KOB-4 7 p.m.) NBC kicks off a night of plus-sized sitcoms with this 40-minute episode of “Earl,” in which our boy must make restitution for robbing a stoner (guest star Christian Slater).

“Barbara Walters: 30 Mistakes in 30 Years” (KOAT-7 9 p.m.) Watching celeb griller Barbara Walters screw up is fun, but this is only part one. Part two airs tomorrow night. Meaning, tonight we only get “15 Mistakes in 15 Years.”

Friday 17

“Mayor Dog” (Animal Planet 7 p.m.) This comedy/documentary special follows the day-to-day life of a canine named Junior, who was actually elected mayor of a small Kentucky town. (If that’s not odd enough for you, Junior is actually the second dog–after Goofy–to serve as mayor of Rabbit Hash, Ky.)

Tony Hawk in Boom Boom Sabotage (Cartoon Network 9:30 p.m.) Skateboarder/self-promotion machine Tony Hawk stars in this CG toon about a bunch of skater kids who must rescue their idol, Tony Hawk, when he is kidnapped by circus freaks in the extreme sports metropolis of Lincolnville.

Saturday 18

“Comic Relief 2006” (TBS 7 p.m.) Billy Crystal, Whoopi Goldberg and Robin Williams aren’t nearly as funny as they were back in 1986. Still, it’s good to see them reunited, hosting this comedy special benefitting the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Sunday 19

Game On: The Unauthorized History of Videogames (CNBC 7 p.m.) I heard Donkey Kong tried to sue to prevent the release of this film.

Desperate Crossing: The Untold Story of Mayflower (History, 7 p.m.) Dramatic recreations show what life was like for the Puritans during the historic Mayflower voyage. … Pretty crummy would be my guess.

Monday 20

“He’s a Bully, Charlie Brown” (KOAT-7 7:30 p.m.) Wow, a brand-new Peanuts TV special! Creators Lee Mendelson and Bill Melendez (who made the very first “A Charlie Brown Christmas” special back in 1965) based this on an idea Charles Schultz was working on when he passed away in 2000. Seems a new bully in town is stealing all the kids’ marbles, and it’s up to Charlie Brown to set things right. Way to go, blockhead.

Tuesday 21

“The 2006 American Music Awards” (KOAT-7 7 p.m.) Jimmy Kimmel hosts. The Pussycat Dolls, Mariah Carey, Nickleback, Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood and Josh Groban are among the performers.

“Tony Bennett: An American Classic” (KOB-4 7 p.m.) In all deference to the Pussycat Dolls, I think I’ll spend my evening listening to Tony Bennett celebrate his 80 th birthday by hooking up with Barbra Steisand, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Diana Krall, k.d. lang and others for some sweet duets.

Wednesday 22

“Madonna: Confessions Tour Live from London” (KOB-4 7 p.m.) The big “will she or won’t she?” question is whether or not Madonna will crucify herself on stage. I would say there was a time when Madonna’s music was more important than her stage antics, but she’s always been a controversy whore. So break out the disco cross, Madge!
