NM Filmmakers Exposed!– The seventh annual Santa Fe Film Festival gets underway this coming Wednesday, Dec. 6. The five-day festival will feature workshops, lectures, parties and, of course, films from around the world. If you can’t wait until Wednesday, you may want to head up to Santa Fe early so you can check out the New Mexico Film Expo.The Santa Fe Film Festival has joined forces with the New Mexico Film Museum to present this unique showcase, a five-day series of screenings running from Friday, Dec. 1, through Tuesday, Dec. 5. The Expo is being held in conjunction with the first annual N.M. Filmmakers Conference. Registration for that particular get-together is now closed, as all conference events are full. If you’re more of a watcher than a participant, however, the New Mexico Film Expo may be the ticket for you. The Expo will feature more than 60 films made in New Mexico, made by New Mexicans or made about New Mexicans. Features, shorts, documentaries and more are among the diverse offerings. All titles in the New Mexico Film Expo are being screened at the Santa Fe Film Center (1616 St. Michael’s Drive in the St. Michael’s Village West Shopping Center) or at the Jean Cocteau Cinema (418 Montezuma Avenue, the exhibition hall of the New Mexico Film Museum). Screenings begin on Friday, Dec. 1, at the Santa Fe Film Center with Philip David Lee’s Nowhere Street (7 p.m.) and Rex Hoss Thompson’s La Devocion (9 p.m.). The Jean Cocteau screens Chris Garcia’s feature Mismatch.com and Cederlof’s short “Reflections” (7:15 p.m.) followed by Wissam Kabbara’s “Game of Dad’s Life” and Chris Roybal’s “Our First Goodbye” (8:45 p.m.).Saturday and Sunday continue with a wide sampling of shorts and features from afternoon into evening. Monday brings a selection of “The Best of the Duke City Shootout” to the Santa Fe Film Center (7 p.m.). Tuesday night wraps up nicely with Rick Schmidt’s recently completed feature Rick’s Canoe, screening at 7 p.m. at the Film Center.Admission for all screenings (features or shorts blocks) is $5. Tickets will be sold at the door of each respective theater and can be purchased beginning one-half hour before scheduled showtimes on a first-come, first-served basis.
