Thursday 17

“Smallville” (KWBQ-19 7 p.m.) “Smallville” flies into its post-strike seventh season premiere with Clark Kent (Tom Welling) and Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum) typically at each others’ throats. Will good triumph over evil? Will Luthor’s mad plan succeed? Will Superman finally strap on a damn pair of tights?

Friday 18

“Doctor Who” (Sci-Fi 7 p.m.) The fourth season of BBC’s revitalized Doctor Who launches with the time-traveling Doctor crashing his Tardis into the Titanic. Whoops. Maybe he’ll save Leonardo DiCaprio this time around.

Saturday 19

Love Sick: Secrets of a Sex Addict (Lifetime 7 p.m.) Is Lifetime being educational or exploitative with this provocative new TV movie? Discuss. … Given that it doesn’t star Tori Spelling or Shannen Doherty, I’m gonna give Lifetime the benefit of the doubt and say educational.

“Torchwood” (BBC America 7 p.m.) James Marsters (late of “Buffy,” “Angel” and “Smallville”) returns just in time for the second season finale to menace the members of the Torchwood team. Given rumors of major changes in store for the show’s third season, this could be a life-or-death episode for several cast members.

“Peyote to LSD: A Psychedelic Odyssey” (History Channel 8 p.m.) Sure, take enough peyote and LSD and you’ll think you’re Odysseus, stuck on a 10-year trip filled with sirens, witches and cyclopes. (Yup, that’s the plural of cyclops.)

Sunday 20

4/20 on G4 (G4 6 p.m.) G4 celebrates the freshman dorms’ favorite new national holiday with a lineup of stoner-centric programming starting with the dopey classic Half Baked , followed by “Attack of the Show in Jamaica” at 8 p.m., a new bong-hit-heavy episode of “Code Monkeys” at 10:30 p.m. and the infamous propaganda film Reefer Madness at 11 p.m.

“John Oliver: Terrifying Times” (Comedy Central 11 p.m.) Polite British correspondent John Oliver from “The Daily Show” gets his own standup special featuring lots of polite British humor.

Monday 21

Finish Line (Spike 7 p.m.) For those wondering when “Scott Baio is 46 … and Pregnant” would kickstart Scott Baio’s stagnant movie career ( Bugsy Malone, Skatetown U.S.A., Zapped! ), your long wait is over! This made-for-TV actioner is like The Fast and the Furious , but with Chachi as the villain.

“Verminators” (Discovery 8 p.m.) Discovery continues to laud every blue-collar job in America with this documentary reality series about an L.A. pest control company.

Tuesday 22

“The Alaska Experiment” (Discovery 8 p.m.) Discovery Channel drops four groups of people in the middle of the Alaskan wilderness to see if they can survive off the land. … If not, there’s always cannibalism.

“A Shot at Love With Tila Tequila” (MTV 11 p.m.) Turns out Tila Tequila did not find lasting love with this show’s first season winner, so she’s back for a second season to try again. … Wow, who could have predicted that?

Wednesday 23

“Mythbusters: Alaska Special” (Discovery 7 p.m.) It must be Alaska Week over on Discovery, because the “Mythbusters” team is up in the last frontier confronting Alaska-based myths. I’m unaware of any myself, but I’m thinking they must involve whale blubber or igloos or some combination thereof.
