Matthew McDuffie, an instructor in the Dramatic Writing Program at UNM and a professional screenwriter, is hosting another series of one-day workshops for filmmakers and storytellers looking to sharpen their writing chops. Classes are scheduled for July 18 and 25 and will cover the foundations of screenwriting: mechanics of plot and development of storyline. Participants are encouraged to bring ideas, as the goal will be to create a complete outline of a film by day’s end. The workshops will be held at KNME studios in Albuquerque from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost is $125. Call 385-1323 or write to buzzblanxo@comcast.net for information and reservations.

Reel World Eyes And Ears

Che La Ke is described as a “multimedia performance collective” stemming from a “dynamic collaboration” between three Brooklyn artists: VJ Sarah, Jon Bozeman and Dave Treut. The group will stop in Albuquerque this Monday for a one-night-only audio-visual experience alongside local soundscapers North America. VJ Sarah will mix “rootsy, raw and relevant” videos live while her collaborators add a punk-folk musical bent to the whole mad affair. For a taste of what’s in store, check out myspace.com/chelakenyc. This unique night of audio/video overload gets underway Monday, July 20, at 8:30 p.m. at Cirq (712 Central SE). A mere $5 helps out the good traveling folks as well as local underground experimento movie folks Basement Films.
