This is an all-ages family event, but seating is limited. Call in advance to reserve your space: 291-6295.

Reel World Short Screams

A shot-in-New-Mexico film short will be screened this weekend at the prestigious Screamfest 2009 film festival in California. The horror film festival will take place at the historic Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. “Hunter’s Moon” is a 10-minute thriller about a career criminal who takes the woman he loves out into the desert to “interrogate” her, fearing she might be an informant. The film was written and directed by Matt Page, owner of the Santa Fe-based new media group RiffRaff Entertainment. You can check out a trailer of the film at riffraffentertainment.com. Reel World Submit To The Sands

If you’ve got a film you’d like to get shown in a film festival, the White Sands International Film Festival is actively looking for material. The Las Cruces-based festival doesn’t take place until April of 2010, but this Thursday, Oct. 15, marks the early-bird deadline for submitting films. The festival is looking for short or feature-length documentaries or narratives with a particular focus on “multicultural themes.” For complete submission information, visit wsiff.com. As with most festivals these days, all submissions are handled through www.withoutabox.com. If you can’t get your stuff together by Thursday, don’t panic. There will be other chances. Thursday’s deadline just saves you a few bucks in submission fees.
