Culture Shock: Real Characters Real Characters
Albuquerque, though we may love it, has its share of sketchiness; like the neighbor who keeps putting baby doll heads in your mailbox, or the grocery store that smells like murder. Thankfully, the students of CNM are doing their part to bring sketchiness a whole new meaning with Sketchy , an evening of short pieces written by CNM faculty and students. The show runs at The Vortex (2004 1/2 Central SE) this weekend only, March 11 through 14, with performances Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 6 p.m. Tickets are $7, and reservations can be made at vortexabq.org or by calling 247-8600. Any weirdness is intentional and won’t bring down property values.

There’s an old saying that those who can, do, and those who can’t, teach. This saying is, if you’ll pardon me, horse crap. All great teachers are doers—studying and thinking and creating and inspiring. Here’s your chance to see what it is some of our most talented teachers do. Meta Morph is a presentation of dance choreographed by UNM’s dance faculty and guest artists, performed by dance program students at UNM’s Rodey Theatre. In conjunction with Anne Frank: A History for Today (see "Outside the Attic" by Samara Alpern on this page), ABQStages presents the Pulitzer Prize winning play The Diary of Anne Frank . The performance, directed by Hal Simons, runs at The Filling Station (1024 Fourth Street SW) through March 21, with shows on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $16, $14 students and seniors, $10 children.
