Spring has ignited a reading renaissance in Albuquerque. Avail yourself of some of the many literary offerings happening this month.

To celebrate National Poetry Month, the
UNM Bookstore presents the Wednesdays at Noon Poetry Series. Featured writers include Rebecca Aronson (April 14), V.B. Price (April 21) and Ken Stewart (April 28). Head to the bookstore (corner of Cornell and Central) during your lunch break and feast on metaphor, which is surprisingly filling. Call Lisa Walden at 277-7494 for information.

Beginning Saturday, April 17, get ready for
Día de los Niños by scooping up your baby bumblebee and buzzing over to the library for storytimes featuring special guests and activities. Wee folk (children, not leprechauns) can enjoy performers and storytellers such as the Loren Kahn Puppet Theatre, Slam Poet Laureate Danny Solis and children’s book author Cristina Ortega. Events will be held April 17 through 30 at branches across the city. To see what’s happening in your ’hood, go to cabq.gov/library/dialibros.html, or call 311.

On Saturday, April 17, Page One Books (11018 Montgomery NE) hosts
author Dale McGowan, who will present a workshop on thoughtful ways to raise intellectually curious children outside of a religious faith. McGowan’s books include Parenting Beyond Belief: On Raising Children Without Religion . The event, sponsored by the Humanist Society of New Mexico, begins at 1:30 p.m. A $10 donation is suggested. See more about the author at parentingbeyondbelief.com.
