How big is this week’s series finale sendoff for “Lost”? So big that even TV can’t contain it! In addition to all the reruns, recaps and specials on ABC (see this week’s “Idiot Box” for details), movie theaters across the country will be hosting a one-night-only, behind-the-scenes “Lost” event. On Thursday, May 20, Fathom Events and the New York Times Talks series will welcome the creators of “Lost,” Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof. New York Times Entertainment Editor Lorne Manly will interview the duo live from The TimesCenter in New York. This in-depth conversation is likely to be Cuse and Lindelof’s last interview about the show. So, chances are it’ll feature a lot of secret-spilling. Reel World: Sundance Screening Sundance Screening
This Saturday, May 22, Sundance Institute, in conjunction with Milagro at Los Luceros, will hold a film screening in Santa Fe. New Zealand director Taika Waititi will show his new coming-of-age drama Boy and participate in a post-film discussion with Bird Runningwater, associate director of the Sundance Institute’s Native American and Indigenous Program. The screening will take place at the Lensic Performing Arts Center (211 West San Francisco, Santa Fe) beginning at noon. This event is free and open to the public and is intended to highlight the Sundance Institute’s upcoming five-day workshop to be held on the ancestral lands of the Mescalero Apache tribe beginning May 24. Reel World: Doing Your Doc Doing Your Doc
The National Association of Latino Independent Producers is teaming up with the New Mexico Film Office to hold a special weekend seminar in Santa Fe titled “Doing Your Doc.” Aspiring documentary filmmakers are encouraged to sign up for three-days’ worth of intensive training, discussion, workshop materials and private project mentoring. An opening screening/orientation will take place at the Santa Fe’s CCA Cinematheque (1050 Old Pecos Trail) on Friday, May 21. The seminar itself will happen May 22 and 23 at the Jean Cocteau Theater (418 Montezuma). Rates are $50 for students and $100 for all others.
