Thursday 27

“Pepsi Smash” (KWBQ-19 7 p.m.) It's summertime, so get ready for lots of cheap reality shows and concert specials. Here, WB resurrects last summer's concert series/Pepsi-Cola commercial. Tonight's bands include Limp Bizkit, Counting Crows and Lenny Kravitz, meaning there's something on tonight's show to annoy everyone.

Friday 28

“E! True Hollywood Story” (E! 7 p.m.) Tonight's show concentrates on the controversial and tumultuous career of Justine Bateman. Justine Bateman? Really? From “Family Ties”? Are we running low on celebrities?

Saturday 29

“Summer Movie Preview” (E! 7 p.m.) E! takes a glance at a whole host of trailers for this summer's hottest films. Who doesn't love trailers?

Sunday 30

Something the Lord Made (HBO 10 p.m.) Alan Rickman and Mos Def star in this HBO Original, a historical drama about a white surgeon and a black carpenter who helped pioneer the field of open heart surgery back in the 1930s.

Monday 31

Ike: Countdown to D-Day (A&E 6 p.m.) When it comes to portraying President Dwight D. Eisenhower, Tom Selleck might not be the first actor who comes to mind. But, believe it or not, the former Magnum P.I. looks quite a bit like old Ike in this TV movie chronicling the 90 days leading up to the Allied invasion of Normandy.

“The One that Got Away” (KOB-4 8 p.m.) This minor deviation on the “Bachelor” formula features a guy dating and dismissing seven former girlfriends. Yay, summer TV!

Tuesday 1

“Summer Music Mania 2004” (KASA-2 7 p.m.) Ludacris, Black-Eyed Peas, Rooney and 3 Doors Down are among the guests on this concert special which is totally unlike “Pepsi Smash” in that Jessica Simpson hosts.

“Summerland” (KWBQ-19 7 p.m.) The WB tries out a new summer drama/comedy about a fun-loving fashion designer who suddenly finds herself saddled with three kids after her sister and brother-in-law die in a car accident. Wait a minute. Isn't that the exact same plot as the Kate Hudson movie Raising Helen?

Wednesday 2

The Last Ride (USA 7 p.m.) The director of The Fast and the Furious and XXX produced this racy action flick starring the new Pontiac GTO. … Oh, and some guy named Dennis Hopper is in it too. Story has an ex-con looking for revenge against the compatriot who put him in jail. There are a bunch of complicated family entanglements, but all the producers need you to know is that there's a new Pontiac GTO in the film, and it gets driven really, really fast.

“The Drew Carey Show” (KOAT-7 8 p.m.) Yeah, it comes as a surprise to me that this is still on the air—and I'm the TV editor. Obviously, ABC has loads of confidence in the aged sitcom, because they're having the season premiere in early June.

“The Ultimate Love Test” (KOAT-7 9 p.m.) This new reality series (obviously inspired by FOX's sleazy “Paradise Hotel”) used to be called “What Happens in Cabo,” implying that assorted bikini-clad couples will be tempted into cheating on one another. Big summer fun!
