Based on her puffy, pink, French poodle name alone, Gigi Levangie Grazer should be destined to become one of the greatest chick lit novelists of all time. Her latest novel seems to contain all the zip and zing that you'd expect from that ever more popular literary genre. Starring the single, jobless, 30-something Clarissa Alpert, Maneater is about a group of youngish, witty, gold-diggin' chicks in search of the perfect mate. It's light. It's breezy. It's probably just a little bit pointless. But advance readers seem to think Grazer's novel, though not the brainiest book in the world, will keep you entertained, poolside, just fine during a long hot summer afternoon. At the very least, you should be able to drink a goodly amount of alcohol and still follow the plot.
