More “Stink”—The stink is back by popular demand! Thanks to those four incredible sold-out screenings the other weekend, the Guild Cinema in Nob Hill has decided to resurrect local zombie flick The Stink of Flesh for a special one-night only encore. On midnight, Saturday, Aug. 21, the film will be screened for all those Flesh-hungry zombies who didn't get a seat at the last go-around. This one will probably sell out as well, so get your tickets early.

In-Flight Films—Basement Films is teaming up with the Rio Grande Nature Center's annual Wings Festival to present “Exploration of Flight,” an evening of wing-related movies. The folks from Basement have dug through their extensive archive of 16mm films and come up with a collection of shorts and clips spanning the decades from the '50s to the '80s. The intimate life of bugs, the world of flight and some outdated educational ideas about the birds and the bees (no, really, birds and bees) are among the evening's highlights. The screening will take place at 9 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21, at the nature Center's Outdoor classroom (2901 Candelaria NW). Native Cinema Showcase—As part of the huge annual Indian Market expo in Santa Fe, the Center for Contemporary Arts (1050 Old Pecos Trail) will be presenting its Native Cinema Showcase 2004. This Native American film festival runs from Aug. 18 through Aug. 25. More than 30 international films from America, Russia, Canada, Australia, Brazil and Mexico will be screened in conjunction with the Smithsonian Institute National Museum of the American Indian. Confirmed guests include an incredible selection of actors, directors, writers and artists including Rick Schroder, Russell Means, Chris Eyre, Adam Beach, Alanis Obamsawin and many more. Screamtime—Speaking of The Stink of Flesh, Albuquerque's homegrown scream queen Stephanie Leighs (who appears in Stink as “Zombie Girl”), is featured in an incredibly cool interview in this month's Draculina magazine. Leighs, who appears in Stink as well as upcoming fright films The Halfway House and Pretty Dead Things, talks at length about her burgeoning career and shows off some nice and gory behind-the-scenes photos from The Stink of Flesh. Way to go, Steffi! Fans of the “pretty girls and bloody chainsaws” genre should not miss this one.
