Resistance is futile! Take me to your leaders! Is that a Centurion Death Worm in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?!
They've got quite a line-up this year. Connie Willis—a winner of multiple Nebula and Hugo awards—will be the convention's guest of honor. Some of Willis' most beloved novels over the years have incorporated time travel and alternate history. Her most recent book is Passage, which explores near-death experiences.
Bubonicon 36's guest artist will be David Mattingly, who's designed everything from CD to book covers and has worked on such films as Tron, Dick Tracy and I, Robot. Mattingly will present a digital art demo at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. The following day at noon he'll take part in an Artists' Roundtable discussion.
There'll be plenty of other guest artists and writers from all over this quadrant of the galaxy along with an art show, gaming rooms, demonstrations and the convention's famous Green Slime awards, which honor particularly awful contributions to science fiction and fantasy over the previous year.
Price of admission for all three days is $30. You'll be charged just $10 for Friday, $15 for Saturday and $10 for Sunday. Special rates available. Some of the proceeds from Bubonicon 36 will go to the Explora Children's Museum and the Williamson Collection at Eastern NM University's Golden Library.
