Thursday 28

“The Long Way Around” (Bravo 8 p.m.) Actor Ewan McGregor (we prefer to think of him as Renton rather than Obi-Wan Kenobi) and his best mate hop on their motorcycles and embark on an epic ride from England to the easternmost tip of Asia in this new documentary series.

Friday 29

“A Scooby-Doo Halloween” (KWBQ-19 7:30 p.m.) Ghosts interrupt a small town's festival celebration (don't they always?) and it's up to the Mysteries Inc. gang to solve the problem. On the plus side, KISS guest stars.

Saturday 30

“Gargoyles: Wings of Darkness” (Sci-Fi 7 p.m.) I remember clearly the original 1972 Gargoyles TV movie because: A) I was a little kid, and B) it took place in New Mexico. Because of those two factors, it scared the crap out of me. Unfortunately, this TV movie has no connection with the original. Instead, it's about a couple of CIA agents sent to Bucharest to investigate a series of disappearances, which, based on the title, would seem to be perpetrated by winged monsters.

“Unexplained, Unexplored” (Animal Planet 8 p.m.) Proving that even animals can get in on this Halloween stuff is this creepy special exploring “serial-killing spiders, slave-making ants, flesh-eating deer and body piercing snails.” Ick, I say.

Sunday 31

See above.

Monday 1

“SNL: Live Presidential Bash: The Great Debates” (KOB-4 9 p.m.) “Saturday Night Live” laughs it up election eve with a look back at their funniest presidential debate skits from years past.

Tuesday 2

Election 2004 Coverage (KASA-2, KOB-4, KOAT-7, KRQE-13 5:30 p.m.) The networks kick in with all-night coverage starting about 5:30 p.m. If you really want to know who won the election, however, tune in next Tuesday. We might have a handle on it by then.

“Shipmates” (Spike 11:30 p.m.) Have you ever bought a “brand new” Taco Bell burrito, only to find that it's the same old Taco Bell burrito with, like, a taco cheese-glued to the side? Well, that's pretty much the state of “reality” television these days. In this “cobbled together from parts of other shows” show, a bunch of strangers are put on a cruise ship and left to their own dating devices. Yawn.

Wednesday 3

“Nanny 911” (KASA-2 8 p.m.) The latest in FOX's unending spew of reality shows is this unnecessary series featuring a team of nannies that descend on a household, offering child rearing advice to overburdened parents. … So, how much longer before we have a show that teaches people how to tie their shoes and cross the street?
