NBC’s new drama “The Night Shift” is filming in Albuquerque, hopefully filling some of the hole left when AMC’s “Breaking Bad” closed up shop. The series is set in a San Antonio hospital where a group of ex-Army doctors work the late-night emergency room shift. Filming began in late August and will continue through mid-November. Producers are currently looking for background extras for upcoming scenes. According to the casting directors, the series is on the hunt for “all different looks, all different ethnicities: cowboys and girls, interesting character faces, men with big mustaches and beards, Texas looks, amputees, gangsters, punks, everything.” They’re also looking for “real types” including real doctors and nurses to fill out the show. Those with medical experience are encouraged to contact the show. If you’d like to be considered for background roles in “Night Shift,” email the casting directors at extras@whiteturtlecasting.com. Please include name, contact number, height, weight and a current picture.
The SAG feature film Midnight Sun, which chronicles the building of the atomic bomb in the 1940s, is looking for musicians to fill out a period scene. The film—starring Jesse Eisenberg, Emile Hirsch and Diane Kruger—will start shooting in the Santa Fe/Los Alamos area on Sept. 30 and wrap up sometime around the end of October. Actor-turned-director Chris Eigeman (Barcelona, The Last Days of Disco) is behind the camera on this one. Right now, producers are searching for a “Dizzy Gillespie look-alike, age 25-30, that can play trumpet well,” a “bass player, age 25-60, African-American” and a “piano player, age 25-60, Caucasian.” For a casting appointment, please email headshots, resume and contact info to casting505@gmail.com.
