Every year UNM's Graduate Art Association hosts a popular silent auction during which students and faculty donate fantastic pieces of art to generate funds for various scholarships. Yes, it's a worthy cause, but it's also a virtually surefire way to pick up some sweet works of art for unbelievably low prices. So if the Christmas spirit ain't movin' you, then at least let your greed for cheap, high-quality art entice you.
This year, the event will take place on Friday, Dec. 3, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Harwood Art Center (1114 Seventh Street NW). The Tamarind Institute will be putting on a print raffle, and there'll be grub, beverages and live music performed by Casadimanza among others. For full details, call 242-6367.
