Thursday 28

“World’s Wildest Commercials” (KOAT-7 9pm) You know we’re scraping the bottom of the summer TV barrel when Chris Parnell shows up and counts down the “top 20 funniest commercials on the planet.”

Friday 29

“Pressure Cooker” (FYI 8pm) You like reality competitions in which people are forced to cook against each other using surprise ingredients, don’t you? Well, here’s another one.

Saturday 30

“Raiders of the Lost Art” (Ovation 5pm) This amusingly titled new documentary series looks at the greatest art thefts in history through the eyes of the detectives and forensics analysts tasked with locating missing masterpieces.

Sunday 31

“2014 MDA Show of Strength Telethon” (KOB-4 8pm) A telethon? That’s so 1973, guys. All the cool charities these days are getting people to dump buckets of iced water over their heads and post the videos on Facebook. That’s the only way to get the kids of today to pay attention to tragic neuromuscular or neurodegenerative diseases.

Monday 1

“CBS Fall Preview Show” (KRQE-13 7:30pm) Check out a sneak preview look at CBS’ new fall shows including “Madam Secretary,” “Scorpion,” “Stalker” and “NCIS: New Orleans.” Wow, can you even imagine what “NCIS: New Orleans” is gonna be like? I’m thinking exactly like “NCIS: Los Angeles” but in New Orleans.

Houdini (History 7pm) Adrien Brody (Academy Award winner for The Pianist) stars in this two-night miniseries about the life of famed illusionist and escape artist Harry Houdini.

The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story (Lifetime 7pm) Who’s in the mood for a trashy, unauthorized, behind-the-scenes dramatization of all the nasty behavior that took place during the filming of notorious ’90s teen sitcom “Saved by the Bell”? OK, OK, line up. There’s room for all.

“Highway to Sell” (Discovery 8pm) You like docu-reality shows in which tattooed guys buy old cars, fix them up and sell them, don’t you? Well, here’s another one.

“Hasselhoff vs. the Berlin Wall” (National Geographic 8pm) “Baywatch” star David Hasselhoff really doesn’t get the credit he deserves for his role in destroying communism in Eastern Europe through the power of song. In this new documentary, The Hoff “undertakes a personal journey back to Berlin to examine the history of the Berlin Wall and meet the people who lived in its shadow.” Also, probably to hunt down all those West Germans who bought his 1989 album Looking for Freedom.

Tuesday 2

“The Story of Frozen: Making a Disney Animated Classic” (KOAT-7 7pm) You liked Frozen, didn’t you? These behind-the-scenes interviews are probably already on the Blu-ray, but Disney doesn’t care. It’s still a few more weeks until the new shows arrive. Gotta do something to fill the time slots.

Wednesday 3

“Fool’s Gold” (Animal Planet 7pm) You like docu-reality shows in which husky people go to cold places and dig for gold, don’t you? Well, here’s another one.

“My Friends Call Me Johnny” (Esquire 8pm) Insanely rich businessman/art collector Jean Pigozzi travels the globe to conduct candid conversations with “friends and fellow jet-setters.” On tonight’s premiere: Dov Charney and Brett Ratner. Wow. This is just one Joe Francis and a Tucker Max away from being “Biggest Douchebags in the World.”
