Thursday 13
“Tilt” (ESPN 7 p.m.) Michael Madsen (Kill Bill) stars as a poker-playing guru who takes his two apprentices to Las Vegas in hopes of winning the motherload from an old cardsharping enemy. This new drama series continues TV's current love affair with all things poker.
Friday 14
“Jonny Zero” (KASA-2 8 p.m.) Franky G (The Italian Job) and GQ (Drumline) are among the vowel-deficient cast members of this new FOX crime drama. G plays the titular character, a sexy young Mob guy who gets out of jail only to perform assorted helpful tasks for strangers–kinda like The Equalizer or McGuyver or the Salvation Army.
“Battlestar Galactica” (Sci-Fi 8 p.m.) Sci-Fi Channel resurrects the old early-'80s Sci-Fi series for a new generation. I still miss all the big silver robots, but the new version has its moments (like, for example, way more space babes).
Saturday 15
Dawn Anna (Lifetime 7 p.m.) Lifetime unleashes a real weeper with this made-for-TV movie. Ms. Terms of Endearment herself, Debra Winger, stars as a woman who survives a life-threatening illness only to lose her son in the Columbine High School shootings.
Sunday 16
“The 62nd Annual Golden Globe Awards” (KOB-4 7 p.m.) Patricia Arquette, Mekhi Phifer, Tim Robbins, Ewan McGregor, Meryl Streep, Diane Keaton, Charlize Theron and Samuel L. Jackson are among the presenters handing out awards for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. It's the last big stop before the Oscars, and they serve liquor–always the formula for a memorable evening.
Monday 17
“Supernanny” (KOAT-7 9 p.m.) After the spate of useless spouse-swapping reality shows, followed quickly by the spate of useless boxing reality shows, comes the brand new spate of useless nanny reality shows. Brace yourselves.
“The Ultimate Fighter” (Spike 9 p.m.) The manly men at Spike combine a reality show with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, following 16 men to Las Vegas on a quest to be the ultimate no-holds-barred, mixed martial arts champion. Let's see those wussies from “The Apprentice” try that.
Tuesday 18
“American Idol 4” (KASA-2 7 p.m.) A whole new crop of hopefuls dream of fame. … Justin Guarini-sized fame.
Wednesday 19
“Point Pleasant” (KASA-2 8 p.m.) FOX gives it the old college try in the “supernatural soap” genre. Set in a small New Jersey town, the show introduces us to the assorted nutty (and WB demographic hot) residents, whose lives are about to be turned upside down by the appearance of a confused (and hot) young girl who just happens to be the spawn of Satan. Lots of supernatural craziness ensues.
